In their capacity as employees, people can contribute to the emergence of the Fourth Sector in a variety of ways. They can:
Actively seek to work with Fourth Sector organizations-—and recruit other employees.
Cultivate a For-Benefit mindset and bring it to their work.
Be change agents within their organization, advocating the adoption of For-Benefit principles such as inclusive governance and a triple bottom line orientation
The Fourth Sector offers many benefits in return. It offers meaningful work that’s financially rewarding and aligned with people’s values, along with the satisfaction of knowing they’re helping create a better world. It also gives people a real voice in the organization’s decision-making process. It ensures that they are fairly rewarded for their contributions to the organization, and gives them the opportunity over time to build an ownership interest in the organization.
